New work in Barcelona and Building Materials
Building materials: Ceramic facade that cleans the air of cities
BIONICTILE ® by Ceracasa is a tile that, through the sunlight, is able to clean the air of nitrogen oxides. This is because the tile has a glaze catalyst due to sunlight and humidity, it reacts with the particulate pollutants (NOx and HNO3) of cities and converts them into harmless substances to human health (nitrates) .
BIONICTILE ® by Ceracasa, is inspired by the world of plants. Mimics the design of micro-reliefs of the textures of the leaves to play, thus increasing the specific surface area of contact with air, encouraging the process of fotocatalización with sunlight.
According to tests conducted by the Polytechnic University of Valencia, BIONICTILE ® tiles are able to decompose NOx 25.09 micrograms per square meter and time.
BIONICTILE ® is a solution developed by companies Ceracasa and FMC-Foret. The tile has been tested by the Institute of Chemical Technology, Polytechnic University of Valencia, the foundation of the Center for Environmental Studies of the Mediterranean, Rema Environmental Consulting and Engineering GiGa Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona.
New construction Barcelona Rock: a paradise for climbers
This new work consists of a rock a hundred feet high overlooking the city of Barcelona. And inside the rock, 50 rooms for backpackers who love adventure. So is the housing project submitted by the Polish architectural architecture Ugo International Competition Barcelona 2011 Bohemian Hostel for Backpackers.
The Barcelona Rock, the name they have christened the project would be built with stone blocks four feet high that would be mounted on concrete pilings. To promote ventilation inside the blocks be assembled leaving a distance between them. These holes serve also as windows that allow light to enter from outside. Using a climate allow natural stone and organic as the rocks absorb heat during the day to radiate at night.
The lodge is inspired by the mountain of Montserrat, located about 50 kilometers from the capital of Catalonia, traditionally considered the most significant of Catalonia. The facade of the building include cracks and ledges as well as various viewpoints. The more adventurous customers could sleep in one of these projections, admiring the view of the city. The interior would include, in addition to the 50 rooms, spa, pool, gym, cinema and shops as well as indoor climbing wall for beginners.
