What is port scanning?
Involves sending a series of packets arriving on the target machine, and it responds by forwarding other series scanner to decode and translate.
This information consists essentially of the target machine IP and data on open ports. With these data is more than enough for an attack, or attempt to take control of is worth noting that with only two pieces of that information (IP address and open port vulnerable), is more than enough for an attack, or attempting to take control of a computer and this we must defend ourselves.
Many programs allow port scanners mass scanning the Internet for vulnerable machines.
Even within Windows are a tool used in networks called Telnet allows a port scan under DOS., But is not very accurate.
If we want to avoid any intrusion into our computer by scanning ports, the best bet is to use a good firewall (or firewall), which is responsible for blocking the shipment of packages that perform continuous scans. Windows has its own firewall, but may be insufficient and it is advisable to use professional solutions.
What is a Firewall?
A frirewall is a device used to protect a computer or internal network from unauthorized access attempts and monitors all traffic on network ports. Its most common use is located between a LAN and the Internet, preventing intruders from attacking or accessing our network.
There are three types:
Software Firewalls: They have a small cost (many are free software) and are a good choice when only using a PC. . Routers hardware: Its main function is to disguise the address and port from the PC to intruders with other hardware IP.Firewalls: They are more expensive and complex are indicated in companies with large networks that need to protect their data servers.
