Pierre Reverdy

IN THE FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY OF THE DEATH OF

Pierre Reverdy

(1889-1960)

"I have enough room to die

Where are the steps away from me and I hear

Far away far away

We are alone my shadow and me

The night descends. "

Pierre Reverdy.

THE VOICE OF M? S PURE FRENCH POETS

Luis Cernuda said, the death of Pierre Reverdy, was "the purest of poets that France has had so far this century," and added: "I consider him as having a rare gift even among the best poets, the guide, pointing toward the younger poets who come after him. In other words, be a teacher. "

Pierre Reverdy was born in Narbonne on September 13, 1889 and died in Solesmes on June 17, 1960. Coming from a family dedicated to sculpture and stone carving for church in his hometown learned the first letters to continue his studies in Toulouse. In 1910 he settled in Paris, where he worked as a corrector of the press, literary gatherings attended and came into contact with avant-garde literary circles and painting (Matisse, Picasso, Braque, Jacob, Gris, Apollinaire, Aragon, Breton, Tzara, Leger .. .). In 1915 he published poems in prose, inspired by Cubism makes him a forerunner of surrealism poetry. Coined, with the Chilean Vicente Huidobro, the term "creationism" in order to match the poetic creation generative processes of nature, and in 1917 founded the famous literary journal Nord-Sud. Converted to Catholicism in 1926, he retired to the vicinity of the Benedictine Abbey of Solesmes, where he lived until his death.

His poetry is characterized by a relentless pursuit of a refined and efficient language and a clear and precise imagery. His poems have "flesh and soul." "Poetry is not in reality, 'wrote the French poet, but in the dream and the illusion of man. Life for man would be unbearable without it. For this reason, good or bad, there are times without poets."

In addition to its production include the following titles: Skylight oval (1916), The Spoils of Heaven (1924), Sea Foam (1926), mitt (1927), Junk (1937), Most of the time (1945) , Labor (1949) and My logbook (1948), a book of remembrance. As the French poet said: "We went back to meet face to face / Looking at us without saying a word / And I no longer had enough room to go again / I was long tied to a tree / With your love terrible to me / More distressed than nightmare ".
