Reviews of Tripod Website Builder, You Asked - Here it is
Have you spent any time agonizing over which website builder to use? There are so many, after all. First we paid, software variety: FrontPage 2003 and Dreamweaver CS3 Then there are the cheapest online pay-per-month: GoDaddy, Yahoo, Homestead - just to name a few. Now, I've tried them all. I physically built web sites of each of the manufacturers mentioned above and, in truth, I was a little 'frustrated with what I saw. Then came Tripod. Tripod Website Builder (http://www.tripod.com) is unique to begin.
Why? You can register, create a complete site, and also start selling on-line before paying a cent. That's the beauty of the system. Then, when you are completely satisfied with your site and are ready to hit the big leagues with a domain of your very own, you can pay the small domain and hosting fee. Less than nine dollars a month for a top-level domain name and a generous amount of bandwidth for all the expected visitors. Big enough, in fact. And, of all the others, Tripod the learning curve minimum. Each button is clearly visible, even in a redundant fashion, and have one of the easiest to use help systems I've encountered. Also, make it very easy to build a site that seems to be designed by a professional - and this is what I've seen them apart from others. Among others, the learning curve is either too big to start with a nice site immediately, or things are a bit 'too complex for the average user, even one with some experience building web, to do everything seems remotely like a professional web site. Now, to make this a completely fair review, I think I have to hit some of the negatives. Let's see. Tripod is nothing if not simple to use, so a builder could get a little more advanced 'irked by the lack of coding required. You know those guys.
If a site is not pure HTML or CSS to call the lame cop out to play. But, in my opinion, not HTML or CSS that I must be able to pull out my delicate ass, the better. Okay, here's another. Their choice of model may seem a bit 'lax in terms of complexity. But, it's been my experience to use one of the basic models, choosing a design is horizontal or vertical navigation, and customization of everything on it to the point where it seems that my vision - it only takes time and is not as difficult as it sounds. Custom colors, logos and other elements of the site where I want them, so I was never concerned with the models provided are customizable enough to suit my needs. Once again, a technician would go nuts working with a model because they feel they can only be a web designer if you write the code by hand, but working with a model really means only that the site is up and ready to go , making your life easier from the beginning. Change what you want to make your own - and tell the truth, if you do a good job, even a technician does not know who came from a model. Hmm. Suppose that wraps it up. If you want to build a website and have the process to be about the easiest and step by step how you get there, go with tripod .......
