Schiavi stated that the ash cloud from the volcano in Chile is "Stuck" On Buenos Aires

"Today, as there were southerly winds, the mass of ash from the volcano is nailed over the metropolitan area, which caused the cancellation of flights from Ezeiza and Aeroparque" said Schiavi.

During an interview with Radio Mitre, the official said that unlike the last few days, that "the south wind carried the cloud to the provinces of La Rioja, Catamarca, San Luis and today the band is at 12,000 feet in line between Bariloche and Buenos Aires. "

Through a statement, the official agency said further that "for now continue to Bariloche airport closed, Chapelco, Esquel, Trelew, Viedma, Neuquén and Bahía Blanca, until weather conditions improve."

"Since the volcano is still active, is not expected to reopen the airport terminals are not guaranteed until security conditions necessary to operate," said the statement from the body.

In that sense, Schiavi said that "global recommendations are very clear: it is dangerous to fly in these conditions" and added, "there is no chance to follow the minute weather changes."

The Ministry of Transport asked "who have plane tickets to travel through some of these air terminals, communicate with the companies concerned to know the status of flights."

This morning, Aerolineas Argentinas, Austral and LAN reported the cancellation of domestic and international flights.

In the case of LAN affected flights were bound for Cordoba, Mendoza, Iguazu, Salta, Tucuman and Brazil.

Moreover, the National Weather Service (NWS) reported that "the ash cloud moves to occupy the first 6,000 meters of the atmosphere in southwest-northeast direction."

"From the Crisis Committee is expected to change the rotation of the winds towards the west, to redirect the trajectory of the ash cloud and allow the resumption of flights," he said.

Schiavi reported that between 10 and 11 will be a reassessment of the weather.

The Crisis Committee is composed of the Secretary of Transportation, Juan Pablo Schiavi, and responsible for SMN, the National Administration of Civil Aviation (ANAC), the Regulatory Agency of the National Airports System (ORSNA), Aerolineas Argentinas and the YPF.
