The Cost of Discipleship
The price of God's grace is immeasurably high, however, God gives us absolutely no charge. The price of grace is infinite, because it cost the life of being infinite. Nothing, not anyone can buy or earn God's grace.
At the foot of the cross, grace accepts or rejects it. She agrees, saying, thanks, thank you Lord, my God and my Redeemer. Is rejected: ignoring, fighting or accepting in part, that is, pretending to share merits in the process of redemption.
Jesus offers forgiveness for free, because he paid the price for our freedom. He carried on his back our very heavy yoke of misery and sin, and at the foot of the cross gives us the easy yoke and light to remain covered under their grace. At the foot of the cross divine grace is received at the foot of the cross lay their weary yokes. So Jesus said, "Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will refresh you. Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden light "(Matthew 11:28).
So to find rest for our souls, we must accept with meekness and humility of divine grace.
Meekly accept the grace is to remain subjugated to the merits of Christ and not our good deeds. With the meekness of a lamb, Jesus was led to slaughter, so that we meekly walk in the way of grace. Jesus with the meekness of a lamb silent and opened not his mouth, so that we can freely proclaim to the four winds that God is love and His grace is infinitely beautiful and sublime.
Grace humbly accept means accepting, as if they were ours, every works performed by Jesus during his childhood, youth and adulthood. That is, accept the grace of the works of God, not our good deeds. For Jesus, being God, humbled himself to the utmost, and became obedient unto death, even death on a cross, for us to live with him for eternity. The king of the universe humbled himself, telling his Father, not what I want, but what you, not my will but yours. Kneel before the majestic presence of God to thank him and accept meekly and humbly His redeeming grace, saying, not what I want, but what you, not my will but yours. Do not look my sinful life, but redeeming your life, do not look renewed life, but your redeeming death.
Indeed, in the sanctuary built in the desert, all earnings up to the very presence of God, was the blood of the lamb, which had been poured on the altar of sacrifice to atone for the wicked deeds of men (yokes sin). No good deed could contaminate human holy place, and the most holy. Only the blood of the innocent sacrificial lamb was accepted by God. Anything else was considered an abomination to the Lord.
As in the sacrificial altar at the foot of the cross will find everyone: friends and enemies, believers and unbelievers, supporters and opponents, loyal and traitors, those who weep and laugh. For all and for each human, Jesus interceded, saying, Father forgive them for they know not what they do.
In the struggle between good and evil, God has won through our Lord Jesus Christ. Where sin abounded, grace. The greatest temptation of the enemy was and continues to be to convince men to reject or replace the only means provided by God for the redemption of humanity: the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
In fact, when Jesus was led by the Holy Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted, the enemy appeared resplendent, to present three substantive ways redemption:
1. Works: If you are a child of God ... Let these stones be made bread. Satisfy your hunger by ...
2. "Grace" light: Drop, totally going to send the angels ... Peca, total grace saves you ...
3. "Grace" shared: All this will give you if you fall down and worship me. Let's make a trade: I will deliver the world change you worship me. Save your Calvary.
On Calvary, the merciful love of God shone in the midst of physical and spiritual darkness, illuminating the friends and enemies, supporters and traitors. That same Jesus invites us to accept His grace, which is the same forgiveness that the thief crucified was happy during his last moments. At the foot of the cross the thief his heavy yoke tank, 'Lord, remember me when You come into your kingdom, and at the foot of the cross the thief took the grace of God by believing in the promise, Verily, verily, I say today, that will be with me in paradise (John 23:42-43).
So in order to find the true and only rest for our souls, we must accept, meekly and humbly, divine grace. Divine grace is immeasurably costly, but it's absolutely free. Sin is a disgrace, whose only solution is God's grace. Divine grace to human misery. The yoke of sin is hard and heavy and leads to depletion of the soul and eternal death. Christ's yoke is easy and light and rest and leads to eternal life.
